Matinime was born from wanting to take self-care further, making poetic rituals of the time we all spend in the bathroom, with products and skincare that capture the luxury of simplicity.

Creating the name started with a fascination for the mundane. While simplicity is so perfect, sometimes it goes unnoticed; two cultures did, even being thousands of kilometers apart.

A Haiku is a type of Japanese poetry that consists of a brief poem, usually inspired by the wonder and emotion of reality. It is the result of the poet observing life itself (usually surrounded by nature).

In pre-Hispanic Mexico, the word Tlamatinime represented the wise Aztec men and philosophers, those who focused on finding the root of things, the truth of men, and the true words of the earth.

We worked alongside one of our favorite artists Diego Hernández Beauroyre (@d__h__b on Instagram) who created these abstract shapes that form visual Haikus, and are inspired by native ingredients from Mexico.

This project was created as Co-Founder of Coordenada Creativa, a branding agency based in Mexico City.
